The 2023 NFL season starts in just a few months. Let’s take a look at three players who could win MVP this season. No matter what you think about this, it’s clear that the MVP award is just the award for the best quarterback. Last year, Justin Jefferson was the best football player, so I think he could have been the MVP.
Also, a player other than the quarterback hasn’t won the award in over a decade, and that doesn’t look like it will change any time soon. Most likely, a quarterback will win the award again in 2023, no matter how we feel about that.
Going by my predictions today on bet on nfl games online, I think Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, and Jalen Hurts are the most likely candidates for this award, and I’d bet that a lot of money is being put on those four players to win.
Well, how about a few more players who don’t get much attention who could win the award in 2023?
Dak Prescott, QB, Dallas Cowboys
Dak Prescott threw 37 touchdown passes and only 10 picks in 2021. Over the past few years, the Cowboys have also had one of the best attacks in the NFL, and Prescott has been at the center of that success.
Kellen Moore going to the Los Angeles Chargers is a little scary, but having Mike McCarthy call the plays should help the experienced quarterback. To be fair to McCarthy, Aaron Rodgers won two MVP awards while playing for the Green Bay Packers under McCarthy’s attacks in 2011 and 2014.
Who is to say Prescott can’t have a great season? Brandin Cooks, who can get down the field, is a nice new tool for him. Tony Pollard is back as the main running back, and Michael Gallup is even further away from his ACL injury. This might not be Prescott’s best year.
Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Miami Dolphins
Tua Tagovailoa garnered significant recognition in 2022 under the tutelage of Mike McDaniel, who coached him for the first time. Looking ahead to the 2023 NFL season, Tagovailoa has the potential to surpass his previous achievements. The primary concern for the Dolphins lies in their offensive line, but appointing Butch Barry as its overseer may significantly enhance their prospects of securing more victories.
Moreover, the Dolphins made an impressive acquisition in the form of fleet-footed wide receiver, Chosen (Robbie) Anderson, during the 2023 NFL Draft. Additionally, the addition of Devon Achane further bolsters their offensive arsenal. With Tagovailoa’s unwavering dedication during the offseason, the second year of implementing the Shanahan-style scheme should yield fruitful results.
If Tua can maintain his fitness throughout the 2023 season, there is a strong possibility that he could emerge as a formidable contender for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) title.
Russell Wilson, QB, Denver Broncos
Since I’m a Broncos fan, this one might make you roll your eyes, but hear me out for a second. Sean Payton has been one of the best offensive coaches of this age. As head coach of the New Orleans Saints, Payton had scoring teams that were ranked 12th or better in 15 of 16 seasons.
So, during his time as head coach, Payton never had an offense that scored less than 12 points. The only time that happened was in 2021 when the Saints’ offense scored 19 points.
Payton hasn’t really worked with a quarterback like Wilson before. During the off-season, the QB also lost some weight. He has a rocket arm, is very accurate, and can move around a lot.
This could be a great chance for Payton to make an effective attack that Russell Wilson can use, and he could be in the running for MVP.
