Electric vehicles, or simply EVs, were once thought of as a bit of a novelty. Something for the techies or even one of Elon Musk’s new inventions. Thankfully, the perception has shifted and EVs are seen in family homes more than ever. In the UK alone, there are nearly two million EVs on the roads – a clear sign that going green is trendy and affordable right now.
A new generation of EVs are being built with families in mind, such as roomier luggage space, loads of safety features, and practical designs that don’t look like science-fiction (yes we are looking at you, Cybertruck).

As families tend to drive here and there for seemingly everything nowadays, from school runs to work to sports activities, the constant mileage quickly rises. However, it’s still cheaper to charge your vehicle at home and rely less on fluctuating petrol prices.

There’s no better way to demonstrate to your kids that living a greener lifestyle really matters for their future. Reducing carbon dioxide is at the forefront of our lives, and choosing a car with zero tailpipe emissions makes a strong impact. As well, clean air zones are popping up in cities across the UK, but EV drivers will avoid charges given to petrol cars.

Today’s modern electric vehicles really stand out due to built-in safety features. In addition to automatic emergency braking, lane assistance, and all-around cameras, EVs are simply designed better.
The battery is low in the car’s construction and gives a lower centre of gravity. This means the vehicle’s likelihood of rolling over is reduced and also helps to absorb collisions more effectively than older models.

Electric vehicles are only getting more economical, safer, and, let’s be honest, nicer to look at. Some naysayers might suggest that the initial cost is more expensive than a petrol or diesel car, but over time, the EV will pay for itself with less maintenance costs, cheaper fuel, and slower depreciation.
The highly-advanced safety features, along with the much roomier boot space makes them a perfect fit for families. Plus, if your home has the option of a charger in the driveway, then you can simply plug the car in overnight and wake up to a fresh battery.
The environmental aspect is perhaps the biggest reason why families must consider EVs for their next car. Going green right now is the perfect time.
