Up to £3,000 in bonus funds, plus 225 free spins. That is what the banner says, and it is worth reading slowly. It describes the most a player could receive across three deposits. It does not describe what a given deposit earns, and the gap between the two is where the terms live. Most of them can be worked out in pounds with one multiplication, which is what follows, using the welcome package and weekly reloads that Spinchester Casino UK, the pound-denominated version of the site, publishes.
Multipliers differ between operators, and this site’s 16 October report on how welcome offers have changed since January is a useful companion. This piece does the sums for one published offer.
What the £3,000 and 225 spins are made of
The package runs over three deposits. Each must be at least £20.
| Deposit | Cash match | Free spins | Cash bonus winnings cap | Spin winnings cap |
| First | 100% up to £1,000 | 25 | £1,500 | £50 |
| Second | 125% up to £2,000 | 75 | £3,000 | £50 |
| Third | None | 125 | No cash bonus | £100 |
The arithmetic behind the headline is dull. The £3,000 is £1,000 plus £2,000, the two cash matches. The 225 is 25 plus 75 plus 125. Note that the third deposit earns spins only.
Spins and cash do not follow the same rules. Spins first: the welcome free spins have no wagering requirement. The cash bonuses, though, come with 35x wagering. Whichever a player takes, it has to be activated within 7 days of being issued. Deposit with Skrill or Neteller and that deposit does not qualify.
Then there is New Player Insurance, open to anyone who makes two or more deposits in their first 21 days. Up to £100 comes back in week one, up to £150 in week two, up to £200 in week three. It arrives as a cash bonus carrying 35x wagering. Do the sum and a £100 credit means £3,500 of turnover. A £200 credit means £7,000.
What 35x means: a worked example
What does 35x attach to? The bonus. Not the deposit. Multiply the bonus by 35 and the product is the turnover required.
| Bonus received | Turnover at 35x | Fewest bets at the £5 maximum |
| £20 | £700 | 140 |
| £100 | £3,500 | 700 |
| £1,000 | £35,000 | 7,000 |
Take a player who puts £250 down at Spinchester and takes the 100% match: a £250 bonus. 35 times £250 is £8,750 of bets. The maximum bet is £5 while a bonus is active, which makes 1,750 bets the quickest route, and there is no quicker one. One more detail: the bonus is non-sticky, so real money goes first and bonus money after.
The sum grows with the package. Add a second deposit of £400, which earns a £500 bonus (125% of £400 is £500), to the £250 bonus above. Together that is £750 of bonus, and the turnover required is £8,750 plus £17,500, which makes £26,250. That is £26,250 of play against a £3,500 ceiling on what can be withdrawn from the welcome package cash bonuses, covered below.
Turnover is not loss. It is only volume. The real cost of play depends on the expected value of each bet, which is the average result over many repetitions, and that changes from game to game.
And the game chosen changes the count itself. Slots add 100% towards wagering, with some exceptions. Table games and roulette add only 10%, video poker 20%, craps 5%. On table games, then, an £8,750 requirement needs £87,500 of bets.
Where the caps bite
Now the limits. Cash bonus winnings are capped at £1,500 on the first deposit and £3,000 on the second. Consider the £1,000 bonus again: £35,000 of play to earn it, and winnings that stop at £1,500. Separately, players with three or fewer deposits can withdraw at most £3,500 from the welcome package cash bonuses. Spin winnings are capped too, at £50 on the first two deposits and £100 on the third.
Two clocks run alongside. A bonus must be activated within 7 days, and after activation, spins and their winnings are valid for 7 more. Leave early, by withdrawing before the package is finished, and the remaining welcome bonuses are forfeited.
The £5 maximum bet applies while a bonus is active. Buying a bonus round counts towards that limit. Only one bonus can be active at once, deposit bonuses do not stack, and if a player cancels an active bonus its winnings are voided.
Weekly reloads at 45x
The weekly offers arrive after a third deposit. Winnings from them carry 45x wagering, and the £5 maximum bet still applies. Two involve cash.
| Offer | Bonus at its cap | Turnover at 45x | Fewest bets at £5 |
| Tuesday reload (20% up to £35) | £35 | £1,575 | 315 |
| Weekend Boost (50% up to £100) | £100 | £4,500 | 900 |
Take the Tuesday reload first. To reach its £35 cap a player deposits £175, because 20% of £175 is £35. Winnings are capped at £50, the minimum deposit is £20 and the offer stays valid for seven days. The Weekend Boost is the larger of the two. It runs from Friday 00:00 to Sunday 23:59 UTC, can be claimed once per weekend, and needs a £200 deposit to reach its £100 cap, which also limits winnings.
The rest of the calendar is free spins. Monday: 50 spins, for a deposit of £50 or more made the previous week. Wednesday: 30, 50 or 100 spins, for a deposit of £20, £50 or £100, one claim per day. Thursday’s Mystery Chester offers up to 100 spins for a £20 deposit. Each has a £50 cap.
Same sum every time: bonus times multiple, then divide by the maximum bet.
Questions to ask of any offer
Five questions work on any offer from any operator:
- Does the multiple apply to the bonus alone, or to the bonus plus the deposit?
- What is the maximum bet while the bonus is active?
- Which games count towards wagering, and at what percentage?
- Which caps limit winnings or withdrawals?
- How long do the activation and play clocks run, and what happens if you withdraw early?
