Who is the Innovator Founder Visa For? New Requirements for the Innovator Founder Route.
On April 13, 2023 significant changes were made to the Innovator Founder route by the decision of the Ministry of the Interior of the United Kingdom. After the entry into force of the new visa regime, the previous schemes Start-Up and Innovator visa ceased to be effective.
New applicants who cannot present an entry approval letter dated before April 13, 2023, must apply to any of the proposed three authorities: Envestors Limited, Innovator International, Endorsements Services.
Applicants who have received approval before April 13, 2023, can continue to be served by the same services with which they previously cooperated. However, customer support is provided only if the business idea that was specified in the application earlier is relevant at this stage.
No £50,000 minimum investment requirement
The previous conditions assumed that in order to approve the application for Innovator Founder visa, the interested party must present at least £50,000. The money should be available, if it is necessary, to direct it to invest in new projects. Now this requirement has lost its relevance. Thanks to this, entrepreneurs can take advantage of more flexible conditions.
For projects that do not require a significant amount of capital, it will be easier to get permission. But it should be borne in mind that a business model involving the use of large investments will require the provision of confirmation of the entrepreneur’s material resources. The businessman will need to provide evidence of the availability of available funds that he can invest in the development of the project, at least for the next year.
Minimum two contact points
Before the changes to Innovator Founder route came into force, service representatives had to stay in touch with applicants at three checkpoints. Meetings must be held 6 months, 1 or 2 years after receiving a visa. According to the new rules, the number of checkpoints has been reduced to 2. Such breaks also have an impact on the flexibility of conditions. Entrepreneurs can engage in business development in less stringent time constraints.
Secondary employment allowed
One of the mandatory conditions that was imposed on the Innovator before the introduction of the new rules was related to the development of the business that they founded in the UK. Now they can do other work. This is possible provided that citizens can present qualifications proof not lower than the 3rd level of the RQF. It corresponds to A-levels. Usually it is assigned to high school graduates.
The innovation allows entrepreneurs to progress in different directions, simultaneously developing the main project. Thanks to the new rules, people can improve their financial situation to maintain the necessary standard of living until the main business begins to generate sufficient income.
Who is the Innovator Founder visa for?
The UK Innovator Founder visa pathway is designed for international start-up visionaries and seasoned business leaders eager to launch a novel venture in the UK. For those aiming to join an active UK-based business, the Skilled Worker visa might be a better fit.
The activity is possible both as the sole founder of the project and as part of a team. An important condition is that the visa holder must be a significant member of the interested persons group. Proof of this will be needed when passing the qualification.
For confirming the right to obtain an Innovator visa, the applicant will need to be able to prove that his business model is unique, innovative. In addition, an important condition is that the project has no analogues and is real for implementation.
