The NBA trade deadline is February 5, 2026, and the winter calm in the league feels deceiving. An early blockbuster has altered expectations, tightened a market, and forced several front offices to recalibrate timelines. Teams competing outside of the playoffs are looking to acquire top-end talent. Most of all, a few All-Stars sit at the heart of the league’s most heated conversations.
These five players feel their situations are fluid enough to generate some real movement before the clock runs out on Monday. Here are some betting angles that matter as speculating turns to leveraging
1) Giannis Antetokounmpo – Milwaukee Bucks
The Milwaukee season has drifted into troubled waters. Even the best of partnerships undergo evaluations when the results don’t keep coming. The league’s executives will keep an eye on the Bucks and whether Giannis is the face of the franchise. Markets are created in the absence of a request for such creation as mere possibility structures, not just a static condition, but a dynamic process which is seen in NBA prop picks.
If teams realise that the championship window is closing rather than getting further open they have some difficult decisions when it comes to retooling or pivoting in a major way around core value.
Any contender would pitch elite defense, reliable shooting, and a secondary creator who can punish teams for loading up on Giannis in the playoffs.
2) Darius Garland – Cleveland Cavaliers
Over the past weeks, Darius Garland’s evolution into one of the league’s most potent point guards has been noticed. He averaged 24 points, seven assists and almost two steals a game with the Cavaliers, which features elite playmaking and three-level scoring. Despite this, it’s said that Garland has been made available on the trade market. Curiously.
Due to his extended contract, Garland is a top player for many teams and it gives Cleveland leverage. The Cleveland team cannot just sit pat while also weighing the combination of backcourt pieces going forward at a minimum. Trading Garland would represent a major change in direction.
3) Ja Morant – Memphis Grizzlies
It is no longer theoretical for Memphis to become a team that listens to offers. The Grizzlies are thought to be gauging real interest in Morant, with an eye on draft capital and young players if talks turn serious. That by itself alters the trade landscape.
Reasons for a move are availability concerns, roster balance and long-term flexibility.
Teams that have spacing and a strong defensive backbone benefit the most from having Morant on the roster. His rim pressure bends entire game plans when defenders have help on shooters.
As soon as one team makes a serious offer, the rest normally tend to respond. Star guards will benefit from market momentum as first movers.
4) LaMelo Ball – Charlotte Hornets
The absence of a proper direction has caused the player’s name to miss out on making it into the top league discussions. There are teams divided on how to correctly value his durability and upside. A gap is what creates opportunity.
Reasons why a move could be likely: Charlotte stands at a turning point. Incremental expansion or a reset that requires clarity. All it takes is one month of madness. Taking action now will maintain this value before another uneven stretch creates another perception shift.
Organized environments are ideal applications for this logic. The presence of a robust coaching staff and two two-way wings gives Ball the freedom to operate without taking the creativity out of their system.
5) Kristaps Porzingis – Atlanta Hawks
Kristaps Porziņģis was traded to the Atlanta Hawks in a three-team deal in July 2025, making him a current key big man for Atlanta during the 2025-26 season.
He has averaged around 17 points and 5 rebounds per game but has missed time with Achilles tendonitis.
Because of his expiring contract and significant salary, some league sources have identified Porziņģis as a player to monitor ahead of the February 5 trade deadline, as the Hawks could trade his contract to gain flexibility or acquire different assets.
Betting markets often react to such financial and roster dynamics, particularly for teams on the playoff bubble or looking to retool.
