PTSD Resolution, a prominent UK charity supporting armed forces personnel, has initiated a campaign to offer free mental health services to British veterans living abroad who may be facing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other psychological challenges.
The charity delivers rapid, effective trauma therapy both locally and online to Veterans, Reservists, and their families. Since its establishment in 2009, it has provided assistance to over 4,000 people.
This new initiative aims to reach UK veterans across the globe who may not be aware that they can access therapy online, regardless of where they are based. Additionally, the service extends to family members who may be impacted by living with someone experiencing trauma.
PTSD Resolution has already supported 38 veterans residing abroad, highlighting its international capabilities. The organisation has successfully treated former military personnel in various countries, including the USA, Australia, Canada, France, and Thailand, among others.
The charity’s online therapy model was rigorously tested during the COVID-19 pandemic when in-person sessions were limited. This experience has positioned PTSD Resolution to effectively deliver remote therapy to veterans worldwide.
With approximately 2.4 million veterans living in Great Britain, the Ministry of Defence’s 2020-2021 report noted that around 55,000 Armed Forces Pension Scheme recipients live overseas, although this number may not reflect all veterans abroad.
The charity’s trauma therapy is provided by a UK-wide network of 200 Human Givens therapists, either face-to-face or online, typically achieving clinical recovery within six sessions. PTSD Resolution’s services are confidential, free, and require no GP referral. It also stands out as one of the few organisations offering support to veterans with addiction or those incarcerated.
