According to a study released in October, non-surgical cosmetic procedures are growing more popular around the UK, with the trend being described as “tweakments”. The market has reportedly been booming in recent years, and is expected to grow by a further 15.4% by 2030.
One of the locations where this booming trend is most evident is in London, where there has reportedly been a 30% increase in requests for “tweakments”.
According to those who have undertaken the procedure, it is one of the most effective, non-invasive ways to rejuvenate the skin and boost self-confidence.
So why is this trend growing now and, in London specifically, what different types of filler are becoming most popular?
Why are Fillers Becoming More Popular?
One of the reasons there has been a dramatic increase in people undergoing filler treatment is the variety of treatments that are now available.
A mistake is often made that filler injections are always so-called “vanity treatments”, but there have been many advances that have made several beneficial from a health-perspective.
Penile fillers, for instance, are combining PRP with penis fillers to not only enlarge size, but increase blood flow and counteract effects of erectile dysfunction.
With ED impacting over 50% of males, penis enlargement in London has become a legitimate way of helping ED symptoms, while improving libido and self-confidence at the same time.
Purely cosmetic procedures, like facial fillers, have also become more popular – with Google trends showing a 31.3% increase in usage since 2021. One of the reasons for this is their versatile nature – dermal fillers can be applied to lips, the jawline, or a smoother face with fewer wrinkles.
Add to this the non-invasive manner in which fillers are applied – it is a relatively painless procedure, with bruising and swelling said to last only a few days after the treatment is complete.
What Different Types of Filler are Most Popular in London?
There are a number of different fillers that have been made available in the booming business of fillers over the last decade, including hyaluronic acid, polylactic acid, aquamid, sculptra, and restylane.
For the penile fillers mentioned earlier, results are achieved with a combination of PRP and hyaluronic acid, with PRP able to rejuvenate and quickly heal the tissue, while hyaluronic acid attracts water to restore volume and even recreate lost structure.
Both are natural components of the body, and the results can last from 6 to 24 months, depending on the treatment.
In London, the three most popular areas to treat with fillers are the lips, which can treat significant lip volume loss, the cheeks, and under the eyes.
It should be noted, however, that these procedures are only responsible if they are carried out by well known, reputable clinicians.
There must always be a communicative process where the patient is talked through the procedure, what they can expect, as well as the possible side-effects. It is a growing trend, of course, but safety is always the top priority.
