Feeling the need for a holiday? This is a common feeling in the UK right now as two-thirds of Brits go on holiday in July and August, so many are feeling the itch right now! It makes sense that most plan to go on holiday at this time as this is during the school holidays, but is it really the best time to go?
Why Timing is Important
Timing is everything when it comes to going on holiday as it can have a huge impact on your experience. The summer holidays are a popular choice, but often you will find places are heaving with tourists and it can be more expensive to travel during this window. If you’re looking for a stress-free escape with plenty of activities, Holiday Resort Unity (HRU) offers the perfect coastal retreat with entertainment for all ages, making it an ideal summer getaway. If you were to travel at a quieter time of the year, such as September, you could save money on rail travel to the airport, flights and hotels. You should also find that your destination is quieter and you can enjoy a more authentic experience.
So, when is the best time to visit some of the most popular destinations?
Spain
Spain is very popular with Brits as a sun, sea and sand destination and it can be an affordable option for families. The trouble is that it can extremely busy during the school holidays. March to May and September to November are good alternatives as it is much quieter and the weather is neither too hot nor too cold.
France
France is another popular destination due to the fact that it is so easy to reach from the UK. May and June are said to be the ideal times to visit France as you can enjoy nice weather (warmer than the UK but not too hot) and you can avoid the summer crowds while still being able to experience French culture. If visiting a city like Paris, there is a lot to be said for visiting during autumn or winter as it is very beautiful during these seasons and fewer tourists visit during this time.
Australia
Timing is particularly important when visiting somewhere like Australia as the weather can be extreme. Weather-wise, the best times to visit Australia are September to November and March to May (keep in mind that summer is December to February here). Visiting outside of summer makes the weather more bearable and can be more affordable than the summer break and Christmas holidays.
USA
The US is another popular destination with many incredible places to visit throughout. It will depend on where you are visiting as there are 6 different time zones, but summer will be the most expensive season and the temperatures can be uncomfortable in some areas (especially in the south).
Hopefully, this post will encourage you to think about the best time to plan your holiday so that you can have the best experience and save some money.
