Whether you are new to the world of drinking or have spent quite a few years gaining experience, learning a few new things never hurts.
For example, the list that we’ll present in this blog may or may not seem totally new to you. However, it’ll for sure remind you of some of the finest and rarest whiskeys that you’d want to go back to again and again!
So, for the love of taste, pleasure, and celebrated whiskeys, let’s get started!
1. World Whiskey Society 31-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distilled by Macallan Distillery
This is one of the most recent launches by the World Whiskey Society. Packaged in a single 31-year-old sherry cask, this whisky was bottled at cask strength, meaning only 71 bottles have been filled.
Yes, this fact adds this one to this rare whisky list.
2. The Singleton of Glen Ord Single Malt Scotch Whisky Aged 40 Years
This is one of the latest releases from The Singleton, one of Glen Ord’s well-aged masterpieces.
The malt in this whisky spent nearly 12 years ageing in old bourbon casks before it was re-barreled into fresh used oak for another 37 years.
After this, the barrels were finally vatted, and the whisky was re-filled into a mix of ex-solera rum casks (Zacapa XO Rum and Zacapa Royal Rum).
Finally, the whisky was packaged into the bottle as we see it.
3. Glenglassaugh Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 46 Years Old
This is another one of the most expensive and rare whiskeys on our list. Priced at nearly 3,800 pounds sterling, this one makes you earn it.
Distilled in Scotland, this bottle was made in 1975 during the last years of the distillery’s 20th-century heyday.
Speaking of the story, the living legend Master Blender Rachel Barrie found this barrel (a bourbon cask) in the stocks. And what happened next went down in history as a whisky miracle, rewarding the world with this fine piece of art.
